There is an optimum inductor or heating coil design for each induction heat treating application; also, a power supply design that will best satisfy the requirements of that application. The operational characteristics of the power supply must properly match the coil requirements to obtain the desired heating pattern. This article considers the required features of various power supplies that allow one to choose the best type for the application.
